Vice Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) on Fox News’ “Faulkner Focus”:

“We have to succeed. We have the trifecta. We have to pass what was a mandate of the American people in the last election. Particularly what we’re doing right now in the committee that I’ve chaired and now am the vice chair, the Homeland Security Committee, we are going to pass a massive bill that, not new laws. We don’t need new laws, what we need are the resources to bear down on the border, to secure it, and stop these dangerous violent people from coming in… To provide more resources to complete the wall that was never completed under Biden; to provide the technology piece that’s so desperately needed––the fentanyl detections that can be done and our new technology that we have––and more Border Patrol agents, more Customs agents, to bear down, to seal the border and prevent the disaster that’s happened over the last four years––allowing almost 15 million people into the United States, many of them very dangerous criminals.”
Chairman Green on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria”:
“There’s a breakdown between the physical wall, the people, and the technology. And what we’re really doing is all of it. We’re adding people; we’re giving them bonuses for retention; we’re spending a ton of money on the actual physical wall––but it’s not just a wall. There’s technology; there are sensors; there are cameras all along that wall. This is a very elaborate––in fact, Maria, to be completely honest, Congress for decades has tried to codify border security––a secure Southwest border. We are going to start that process today, passing this reconciliation bill out of the Homeland Security Committee.”
Kilmeny Duchardt on Newsmax’s “John Bachman Now”:
“The House Homeland Security Committee, they have been marking up their part of the budget this morning, where Republican Chairman Mark Green reiterated the GOP’s priorities. [voice over] ‘It’s critical that the Republican majority do what the people elected us to do, approve funds for effective border security and enforcement measures. And that’s what these recommendations do, but we’re going to increase their ability to catch these drugs. We’re also investing in hiring more Border Patrol agents.’”

Fox News: Republicans roll out $69B funding plan for new CBP agents, building border wall in Trump budget bill
“House Republicans are carving out $68.8 billion for President Donald Trump’s border wall and to hire more agents in the field amid talks on a massive bill to advance the commander-in-chief’s agenda…Border security is a core pillar of congressional Republicans’ priorities in the budget reconciliation process. The Homeland Security Committee, which has jurisdiction over significant amounts of U.S.-Mexico border operations, was directed to use up to $90 billion in new spending to achieve those goals. Trump administration officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and immigration czar Tom Homan, have emphasized the need for more funding to carry out the president’s agenda.”
The Daily Signal: White House Directly Involved in House Republicans’ $69B Border Security Funding Plan
“The House Homeland Security Committee released its budget proposal Sunday, calling for $46.5 billion in new money to pay for the border wall. More than $5 billion of the total $68.8 billion will go toward new facilities and personnel for Customs and Border Protection…The White House has been involved in constructing the funding plan over the past few months and fully supports it, two sources close to members of Congress told The Daily Signal. A White House official confirmed the president’s support…Reconciliation funding will equip CBP with the ability to hire and train 3,000 new Border Patrol agents, 5,000 new Office of Field Operations customs officers, 200 new Air and Marine Operations agents, 290 support staff, and eligible retired agents and officers. The border wall, which the House Homeland Security Committee calls an ‘integrated border barrier system,’ will feature physical infrastructure as well as technological enhancements. This includes internally reinforced steel bollards, fencing, all-weather access roads, lighting, surveillance cameras, and more.”
Politico: Dems muted on border wall opposition at Homeland megabill markup
“The House Homeland Security Committee has advanced its portion of the GOP’s sweeping domestic policy bill, paving the way for tens of billions of dollars in border security investments. Democrats were relatively muted during the markup in their pushback against GOP efforts to complete the border wall — a major reversal from their stance during Trump’s first term, where their refusal to provide the administration with billions of dollars needed to build a physical barrier prompted the longest partial government shutdown in history.”
Washington Examiner: House GOP unveils asylum application fees and new border buoys in budget agenda
“The House Homeland Security Committee seeks roughly $60 billion to tackle border security. It justified its request by citing measures to help maintain control of the U.S.-Mexico border. ‘The success at our borders will be short-lived if we don’t provide the necessary resources to fund President Trump’s agenda and help [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] fulfill its border-security mission in the years to come,’ said House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN)… Republicans want to spend $46.5 billion on the border barrier system, beyond funding just a wall. It would include money for the fence, access roads along the fence, lighting, surveillance cameras, and cutting-edge technology. The committee pitched building 701 miles of primary wall, or fencing, as the southernmost barrier, and 629 miles of secondary fencing that would run parallel to the primary wall. The federal government would also build 141 miles of vehicle and pedestrian barriers. The proposed funding would also cover 900 miles of river barriers or buoys, such as those that Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) placed in the Rio Grande in mid-2023.”
Associated Press: House GOP wants to pump billions into Trump’s deportations and detentions as part of tax bill
“Central to the Homeland Committee’s section of the legislation is $46.5 billion to revive construction of Trump’s wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, with some 700 miles of “primary” wall, 900 miles of river barriers, and more. There’s also $4 billion to hire an additional 3,000 new Border Patrol agents as well as 5,000 new customs officers, and $2.1 billion for signing and retention bonuses. Democrats kept the committee in session for hours, submitting some three dozen amendments to change the package. They all failed.”
Newsmax: GOP Budget Plans $69 Billion for Border Agents, Wall
“The House Republicans’ budget package will reportedly include $68.8 billion for border security, including hiring new border and immigration agents and building the border wall. The new report outlines spending initiatives designed to reinforce border security – a key Trump campaign promise in addition to getting out millions of illegal migrants allowed to enter the country by former President Joe Biden’s administration. With the coming world showcase events of the 2026 World Cup soccer championship tournament and 2028 Summer Olympics, security funds are needed to the tune of $1 billion for the Olympics and $625 million for the World Cup… The Trump administration is hailing its progress in not needing a border security funding bill to cut off record-high illegal immigration numbers during the Biden administration, but ‘just a new president.’ He warned the progress could be derailed by failure to fund future initiatives, according to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and border czar Tom Homan.”
Epoch Times: House Panel Advances $47 Billion Border Wall Proposal
“House Homeland Security Committee members advanced a list of budget reconciliation recommendations on April 29, including a proposed $47 billion for border wall construction. The panel also approved $5 billion for Customs and Border Protection facilities, $6 billion for agency personnel and vehicles, nearly $4 billion for technological enhancements, and $950 million for grant programs. ‘It’s critical that the Republican majority do what the people elected us to do: approve the funds for effective border security and enforcement measures. And that’s what these recommendations do,’ Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.), the committee’s chairman, said… Democrats dominated most of the seven-hour meeting with their amendments and protestations against the administration’s approach to law enforcement. But when the committee’s top Democrat, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), suggested his Republican colleagues’ silence was a testament to their discomfort with the same, Green spoke up. ‘You guys don’t know a good guy from a bad guy!’ the chairman said. Under the previous administration, ‘13 million people poured into this country because you totally disregarded the rule of law—laws passed by this body,’ Green said. ‘I think it’s laughable, myself,’ he said of the complaints.”
Washington Times: House Republicans get to work on Trump’s ‘big, beautiful’ bill
“The Homeland Security Committee piece includes $46.5 billion to complete Mr. Trump’s border wall and erect other barriers along the southern border with Mexico, along with technological enhancements to support real-time monitoring and response. The panel also provides a funding boost for the Customs and Border Patrol agency, including $5 billion to improve facilities, $4.1 billion to hire more than 8,000 new employees and $2 billion for retention and signing bonuses.”

Washington Times: House budget proposes $46.5 billion for border wall
“The House Homeland Security Committee released its budget proposal Sunday, calling for $46.5 billion in new money to pay for President Trump’s border wall. Committee Republicans are also calling for billions more in personnel, equipment, and bonuses to help maintain what’s been a dramatic decrease in illegal cross-border traffic. The money is part of the budget ‘reconciliation’ process. Congress passed its broad budget outline earlier this year and now committees are pushing to flesh out the top line numbers with specifics. The wall money would be a massive increase over Mr. Trump’s first term… It calls for ‘completion’ of 701 miles of primary wall, 629 miles of secondary barriers, 900 miles of river barriers and replacement of 141 miles of existing vehicle and pedestrian barriers. Committee Chairman Mark Green, Tennessee Republican, said the money will help Homeland Security keep Mr. Trump’s early success going.”
CNN: Johnson says it’s ‘game time’ as House committees draft first piece of Trump agenda
“The defense and homeland security provisions are considered less controversial among House Republicans, but the huge dollar for these programs underscores how central they are to the president’s agenda. On border security, the House Homeland Security Committee proposes $46.5 billion for new border barriers, $5 billion for new Customs and Border Protection facilities and $4 billion for new Customs officials and border personnel. The committee proposes several billion dollars more in new technology to tighten security measures at the border and also includes $1 billion for security and planning for the 2028 Olympics, as well as $625 million for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”
Newsbreak: U.S. House committees approve first three sections of spending and policy package
“Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, R-Tenn., wrote in a statement that GOP lawmakers on the panel ‘advanced funding to give Border Patrol agents the tools they have long requested to accomplish their homeland security mission in the field while protecting our communities.’ ‘Conversely, the actions of our colleagues across the aisle today proved what the American people have known for some time,’ Green wrote. ‘Democrats would rather advocate for a radical, open-borders agenda than for the safety of their own constituents, or the CBP personnel who suffered through a historic border crisis under the Biden-Harris administration.’ The panel voted 18-14 along party lines to approve the bill.”
Bloomberg Government: Homeland Panel Approves Billions for Border Security in GOP Bill
“Republicans moved closer to supercharging resources for border wall construction and other security measures after a key panel advanced a plan worth almost $70 billion… The package, if it becomes law, will help President Donald Trump carry out his promises to crack down on immigration and tighten border controls… The homeland portion of the GOP legislation features what would be an unprecedented one-time boost in spending at the border, including $46.5 billion for barrier and wall construction, $5 billion for facilities, and more than $6 billion for hiring and retaining Border Patrol agents, customs officers, and other personnel. The measure’s total funding eclipses the entire Department of Homeland Security’s average annual base discretionary appropriations. ‘It is critical that the Republican majority do what the people elected us to do — approve funds for effective border security and enforcement measures,’ Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.) said during Tuesday’s markup… The GOP proposal also includes funding for security planning for the 2028 Olympics and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Democrats offered amendments that repeatedly failed during the marathon markup…”
NewsTarget:House GOP unveils $69 billion border security plan ahead of global events
“House Republicans on Sunday, April 27, unveiled a $68.8 billion border security budget package, marking a bold push to expand physical barriers, modernize surveillance technology and bolster staffing as the U.S. prepares to host major global events like the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The spending plan, announced by House leadership and vetted by President Donald Trump’s administration, reflects a continuation of his 2017 border wall initiative while addressing evolving security challenges. Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Secretary Kristi Noem, argue that without full funding, recent declines in illegal border crossings could reverse, jeopardizing both domestic and global security priorities. The legislation, set to move through Congress under reconciliation rules, underscores a legislative strategy that merges long-standing GOP priorities with immediate operational needs.”
